Lael Belle, my baby girl. When I found out we were having twins, I wanted a boy/girl set so bad I could hardly stand it. I just thought that would be the perfect family. When I found out I got my wish I was beyond thrilled. I already knew from having Chace that boys were great, but having a girl to dress up, do her hair, shop with later on, do crafts together was so much fun to think about. Right off the bat, Lael displayed a Type A personality. She had to be in charge. When she was hungry, she wanted to be fed, NOW! When she had a wet or dirty diaper, it had to be changed, NOW! When she was tired, she wanted to be rocked or jiggled or swung, NOW! Everything was on her schedule, and oh boy did she let you know your schedule didn’t adhere to hers. That girl had a powerful set of lungs from the get-go. Years ago I found a perfect quote that totally fits Lael:
If you ask me what I came into this life to do, I will tell you: I came to live out loud. Emile Zola
As she has grown up Lael still has her take charge personality but has learned to co-exist in our family without causing much more havoc than the occasional spilled drink. Lael has many interests, ranging from Girl Scouts to gymnastics and cheerleading to drawing, writing poetry and her greatest love, Reading. She is a true speed reader and currently reads on a 12th grade level. Life without Lael would be not nearly as exciting.
