Random Family Pics

April 30th, 2009 -- Posted in Life at the Anderson's | No Comments »

I was trying to use up the last few pics on a disposable camera before I had it developed. Just some random pics of the kids around the house. Caeden is of course playing on the computer, Lael gives me her typical silly pose and Chace is, well just a teenager – but not hiding from the camera, Yay!!

Swine Flu Hits Madison

April 29th, 2009 -- Posted in Life at the Anderson's | No Comments »

I cannot believe it! We are just a tiny speck on the map, and now we are all over the national news!!! Our school superintendent sent something out the other day about how Madison/Huntsville is at risk because of all the residents who travel nationally and internationally due to their job assignments. I was like huh? Madison, the swine flu? really? Tis true, 2 probable cases at Heritage Elementary, that is not the twins’ school, but still really, really close. Madison is not a large city, and the kids from all the elementary schools intermingle at soccer, baseball, swimming, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, church, etc……..so, if one school has probable cases, chances are other schools will have them soon. They have closed Heritage for 7 days, and all the other elementary schools until Monday. But, that will change if other cases pop up.

Veggie Garden

April 28th, 2009 -- Posted in Life at the Anderson's | No Comments »

We did it this year, we planted our garden. We had one years ago while Todd was in the Navy, but it was not right in our backyard and the twins were only a little over a year old, so we were not able to maintain it like we should have. This time, we put it right in a corner of our backyard. I had been talking about getting some plants for a couple of weeks, and then the other day Todd brings home 8! tomato plants!! Eight!! Do you know how many tomatoes that will produce?!?!? He was clueless, so I took 5 of them back to Lowe’s. We planted 3, which should give us more than enough tomatoes!! We also planted zuchinni, squash, okra, watermelon, strawberries and a variety of peppers.

Sunday Fun

April 26th, 2009 -- Posted in Life at the Anderson's | No Comments »

Caeden was asked to go on a day trip with one of his friends to Murfreesboro, TN. They had a blast exploring an old run-down cabin, hunting for new “Man-Sticks” and riding a 4-wheeler. Lael and I had to find something fun to keep us busy, since Todd was working. We started out the morning with a little work for me, I had an appointment in Hazel Green for an inspection. We did that, and realized that we were really close to the strawberry farm, so we stopped there for a bucket of strawberries. Lael wanted to go to the field to pick some, but Caeden wants to do that also, so we decided to just buy some pre-picked. They smelled delicious in the car on the way home!!! Lael then decided that she wanted to go the mall, the Jumpy Fun Mall, as she calls it. We stop at home to pick up Chace and his friend, Dylan and off to the mall we go. Chace has some clothes he needs to swap out anyway at Abercrombie or American Eagle or Hollister, or whatever his fave store this particular day……We arrive at the mall, and the first thing to do is hit the Food Court, of course! The jumpy fun thing is conveniently located there, so after we eat, Lael gets her high of the day – she loves that thing. It kind of makes my stomach drop, especially as she is doing her acrobatic circus flips! We also cruise around the mall and wind up in a store that has hermit crabs. Lael has decided that is her newest must-have. eeekkk! she is picking each of them up and the whole time I am thinking, double yuk-yuk! I told her to save her money and she can get it when she saves enough, hoping that she will forget about it!!!

Daisy Fun

April 25th, 2009 -- Posted in Life at the Anderson's | No Comments »

There is nothing like 10 or so girls, a fire, chocolate and marshmallows!  One of our Daisy parents generously offered to build a fire ring in their fabulously big backyard, so we all met there Friday night to roast marshmallows and play.  We ended up with waaayyyy more marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate than anybody could eat, but it was great fun.  The girls were almost as interested in playing in the sandbox and on the swingset as they were in the marshmallows though!!  Several of them just wanted to catch the marshmallow on fire, and then they were done!!  Of course, then just eat the chocolate bar by itself.  That’s what I did!

Eagle Rehab

April 23rd, 2009 -- Posted in Life at the Anderson's | No Comments »

First day of rehab therapy for Chace today. The therapist was great – he explained everything really well and showed us how Chace’s hip is out of alignment. He said it has probably been like that for years, but is easily fixed with some exercises. Chace was asking all kinds of questions and really seemed interested in the guys job, so I asked him where he went to school and how he like being a physical therapist. He told us all about it and Chace hung on every word. It was cool to me to see Chace interested in something – he has previously not expressed an interest in anything beyond sleep, food, hanging with friends and baseball. We’ve tried to tell him he needs to be thinking about what he wants to be when he grows up, but that is such a far-off concept for a almost 14 yr old he can’t wrap his brain around it. I can’t wrap my brain around the fact that he has 4 years left of school – then off to college! eeeeeeekkkkk!

Susan Boyle

April 17th, 2009 -- Posted in Life at the Anderson's | No Comments »

I’m sure some of you have already seen this. I saw it yesterday, I think on The View. It’s a video clip from Britian’s Got Talent. A contestant, Susan Boyles, blows everyone away with her performance of I dreamed a dream from Les Miserables. I must be overly emotional because I cried when I saw it – the audience was just awful to her before she began singing based solely on her appearance. She is definitely the one with the last laugh though!

Alabama Adventures

April 16th, 2009 -- Posted in Life at the Anderson's | No Comments »

I took the first step yesterday in planning some fun for our summer.  I bought season passes to Alabama Adventures. What is cool is that I got them for half price! Several of the news stations here in Huntsville do these promotions where they offer half price deals for restaurant, movies, and more. I noticed that they had season passes for Alabama Adventures listed. I thought it was strange since it is about 2 hours away, but it works perfectly for us, since my parents live about 20 minutes from the park in Bham.
We had planned on having the twins 4th birthday party there, but it rained that day so we moved the party to the bowling alley. They have not forgotten about it! Each summer (well actually all year long, when they see the sign on I-59) they keep saying HEY! we never got to to to Alabama Adventures!!! This is our summer to do it – every day if we want to!!

Daisy Troop

April 15th, 2009 -- Posted in Life at the Anderson's | No Comments »

This year we have been working with an older Girl Scout troop on a couple of different things. The week of Spring Break they invited us over for one of their meetings. The girls made Sit-Upons, had snacks of course and put on a Talent Show. It was so cute. The talents some of these girls displayed were impressive. Lael jumped rope, something that she can do for hours, I think! They had a lot of fun together, even with the mix of different ages. I think it’s great for the little ones to see older girls enjoying Girl Scouts and can have them to look up to as a role model.
