Lakauai {Life is Good}

Wow, seems like Lael could not be outdone by Caeden jumping off his bed and breaking his arm.  She had to ‘fall’ off the fence and break her foot.  It was totally an accident, but I tried to get her to understand that if she had not been climbing the fence in the first place, she could not have fallen off!  It happened yesterday afternoon, all the kids were running in and out, through the front door, out the back door, back in through the garage etc…….All of a sudden we hear this horrible scream – the kind that all parents know is the real deal.  When parents hear this, they drop everything and RUN!  I actually beat Todd out the back door, but he quickly overtook me and got to Lael first who was crumpled in a heap between the trampoline and the fence.  There are kids all over and everyone is trying to tell us the story of what happened.  Todd scoops Lael up and carries her into the house.  She has scraped her cheek and her back and is complaining that her foot hurts.  We break out the first aid kit and get her all cleaned up, then an ice pack for her foot.  Lael is quite the drama queen, everybody who has met her knows that.  But, this time was just a bit different.  Every time she would move her foot, she started to cry.  Within an hour, it started to swell.  Todd decided she needed to go to the ER to get it checked out.  We took her up to Urgent Care, which is like a mini emergency room, but it is very close to our house.  The verdict comes back that she does indeed have one or two of those tiny bones in the top of her foot broken.  They put a humongous boot on and tell us to make an appointment with the orthopedic doctor.  Here she is with a smaller boot that she got from TOC.  Much easier for her to move around with!
